(bke) At the FIA World Rally Championship in Sweden three drivers of the BP Ford Abu Dhabi World Rally team managed to climb the podium. 22 year old Fin Jari-Matti Latvala, successor of Marcus Grönholm, is the youngest winner of a WRC ever. Mikko Hirvonen and Gigi Gally made second and third position.
For the first time in history the rallye in Sweden took place under rare conditions: There was more gravel than snow. Even two of the tests have to be cancelled due to impassability. Despite all adversities Jari-Matti Latvala could take the lead right from the start and defend it until the target line.
World champion Sébastian Loeb quit already during the first day due to engine problems. The next Rallye will take place from February 29 until March 2 in Mexico.
